(Disclaimer: It's March 2026 and I am trying to finish up some old posts on this blog before trying to print this blog in a book form. Beginning at the Cornish Family Reunion 2016 (part 1) Martin Cove pictures, I am writing captions for the pictures which had previously been uploaded at the time listed for publishing. So I'm going off of memories 10 years after the fact.)
When planning our RV trip we new we'd be passing through Omaha, Nebraska and asked Loraine if we could stay with them for the night. The Bigs weren't able to make it to this reunion which was really disappointing. With the extra space in the RV we asked Loraine if she'd like to join us and were delighted that she said YES! As I recall, we got in Sunday evening to a Loraine and Kurtis Cornish and a table full of food. The next day we spent the morning at the Winter Quarters temple and Visitor's Center with Loraine, who has worked int he temple for years.
I remembered visiting the monument on my Heritage Tours trip (1994) and being so touched by this line in the song 'Come, Come Ye Saints.'
Gird up your loins, Fresh courage take.
Our God will never us forsake.
On the road again.
If I remember right, Daniel got something in his eye that was really scratching and we couldn't get out. We told him he needed to try and keep his eyes closed so it wouldn't scratch. Sweet boy. His tears actually helped wash out his eye.
Lunch break at a park. It really was so fun to have a mobile kitchen and bed for the trip.
Love a sleeping baby.
We made it to Nauvoo...
Cousins, cousins everywhere. We stayed at a complex with a bunch of apartments. It wasn't far from Old Nauvoo, so we would daily organize into groups according ages and interests.
Two Janes.
Two Cornish boys who switched hats.
One of the neatest things we did was baptisms with all the cousins that were old enough. It really was beautiful - the building, of course, but mostly seeing all these cousins doing the work for those who came before.
