My Main Squeeze n' Me

I had tons of pictures on my camera and finally got around to putting them on my computer.  I found several random pictures with or about Matt that made me happy.  I like him a lot, that Matthew Jared Cornish.  So here's a smattering of pictures in no order, with no dates, and little purpose to them except to remind me how much I love being married to him.

At Cabellas checking out the shades.

I had been having a rough week when I came home from an afternoon of running errands and found these waiting for me on the counter with a card.  Matt had come home for lunch but I wasn't there.

We went on a triple date to Park City with Matt's sister Lisa and her husband Adam (visiting from Georgia), and Matt's cousin Benjamin and his fiance Cheryl.  We really enjoyed wondering through shops, trying not to looked shocked at the price of artwork, and taking pictures with a moose in a sombrero and red lips.

Last year we had a family service project to clean out and fix up the basement of the Locust Lane house.  We spent a Saturday pulling out junk, mudding holes, cleaning appliances, ripping out carpet, etc.  A few days later Troy was ready to take a paint sprayer to the whole apartment.  Matt was his assistant.  He looks pretty serious about this!

I love that you can tell Matt is smiling behind his mask.  I think I do a pretty good "terrified face."

I got dressed up in case they needed some back-up.  Turned out they could handle this one all on their own.

There was a family in our ward that was re-shingling their roof.  They'd asked for some help but hadn't gotten much of a response.  Matt ended up spending several hours there over they weekend.

Matt called to see if I could come help out.  I loved it!  I'd never re-shingled a house and Matt was a great teacher.  One of us would lay out the shingles and the other would come behind with the nail gun.  It's hard not to feel tough with a nail gun in your hand.  Looking tough wasn't hard either.

After a few hours I had a blister from the nail gun.  Matt made me a bandaid.  I called it my "mandaid" since it was made from duct tape.  See... I'm tough!

In May of 2011 the young women had a service auction to raise money for girls camp.  Part of the auction was classes that members of the ward would offer for $10 a person.  Matt and I signed up for a repelling class from a couple in our ward who go regularly.  They said there was a great spot up Battle Creek Canyon (right behind our house) next to the waterfall.

Several months passed before we figured out a time to go.  It was a Sunday in mid October (I think) that Matt and Josh (the husband who would be taking us) decided to go the next day.  It had been a little overcast, but Monday was supposed to be nice.  I'll admit that the timing didn't seem ideal since we had the kids and they needed to be picked up at different times and arrangements had to be made.  But Matt was so excited to go that we headed up the canyon.

And then it started to snow.

We got to the waterfall, which has repelling hooks already in the rock above it.  I was getting nervous, having never repelled before, and my first time being in the snow next to a waterfall.  It didn't help at all when Josh explained that there is a ledge that sticks out at the top that you have to either (option 1) walk down to the edge of the ledge that sticks out while harnessed in and perpendicular to the cliff.  Or (option 2) do one of those cool repelling jumps where you push off the rock and slide down the rope a ways until you swing back to the rock.  Matt went bonding down the cliff and was to the bottom in maybe 3 hops.  I went for option 1, which probably took me 10 minutes as inched my way down the ledge with my heart pounding.  I did do some of those fancy hops once I was past the ledge.  And on my second time down I was a much happier hopper.

Here's Matt's first time down.

By the time we were done the snow had stopped.  It really was beautiful!

We had a good time, my main squeeze and me.
