Personal Progress

The last day of school was May 26. I am now officially retired. So... now what do I do? I was feeling very anxious about the new roles I have and how to become that "new" person. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that during the past year there have been moments of feeling completely overwhelmed. In the past year I have bought a house, lived in Ghana for 2 months, got married (hooray!) and become step-mom to 3 kids (ages 10, 12, and 14), moved (for the 4th time in two years), been called as Young Women president, completed my 9th year of teaching, and retired.

Leaving the teaching profession behind does not mean I am not taking with me some habits with me. That being said, I have made a schedule for myself to help with the transition. Don't worry, I know it won't work like I want it to. Life is not a formal classroom with bells and recess to tell me when to move on. However, I'm going to do it anyway, perhaps just for now, and just for the mornings.

I've been thinking a lot as I have been creating my schedule and listing things that would help me improve as an individual, to progress in my own personal way in order to be better prepared to be the wife and mom that my family and I want and need. Did you know there is a whole program called "Personal Progress!?" I completed the program as a young woman, but I've decided to do it again. Anyone want to join me?
